What is CoMP?
CoMP—Conversations on Media Production—is an educational webinar series featuring experienced professionals from film, television, music, writing, design, photography, interactive media and creative technology.

When are CoMP webinars presented?
Our regular live schedule includes:
- East Coast Editions: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. ET
- West Coast Editions: Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. PT
The regional designations refer to the broadcast times and the schedules of our featured guests. Everyone is welcome to attend either edition, regardless of location.
How much does it cost to attend?
We offer several ticket levels to keep the webinars accessible:
- Community Access: A limited number of pay-what-you-can tickets, with a suggested contribution of $5, are available until one week before the event.
- Early Access: A limited number of $10 tickets are available until 24 hours before the event.
- General Admission: $20 tickets are available throughout registration and become the only option during the final 24 hours.
Discounted tickets are limited,n, so early registration is encouraged.
What is included with a live ticket?
Your ticket provides access to the complete live webinar, including the featured conversation, educational presentation and audience Q&A.
The Q&A is the primary advantage of attending live. It gives you an opportunity to ask questions and gain additional insight directly from our guest.
Where are the webinars presented?
CoMP webinars are presented online through Zoom. You can participate from a computer, tablet or smartphone with a reliable internet connection.
Your registration confirmation will provide the information needed to join the event.
Will attendees appear on camera?
Webinar attendees generally join as audience members and are not shown onscreen. Questions can be submitted through the webinar’s Q&A feature.
Can I ask the guest a question?
Yes. Live attendees can submit questions during the webinar’s audience Q&A. We try to address as many relevant questions as time allows,n, although submitting a question does not guarantee that it will be answered.
Please keep questions concise, respectful and related to the webinar topic.
What if I cannot attend live?
A full recast becomes available to CoMP subscribers through Patreon and Substack beginning on the Sunday following the live webinar.
Does my live ticket include the recast?
A live ticket provides admission to the live event and audience Q&A. Ongoing access to complete recasts and our growing webinar archive is provided through a CoMP Patreon or Substack subscription.
How much does a subscription cost?
A CoMP subscription is $5 per month through either Patreon or Substack.
Your subscription provides access to complete webinar recasts and helps us continue producing affordable educational programming featuring experienced media-arts professionals.
Where can I watch previous webinars?
Complete recasts are available through our Patreon and Substack archives. New recasts are generally added on the Sunday following each live webinar.
Are complete webinars available on YouTube or social media?
With a few exceptions, only selected excerpts, highlights and educational clips are made available publicly through YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and our other social platforms.
Complete webinar recasts are primarily reserved for CoMP subscribers on Patreon and Substack.
Are the webinars recorded?
Yes. CoMP webinars are recorded for recast, archival and promotional purposes. Questions or comments submitted during the live event may be included in the recorded program or in selected promotional clips.
How long is each webinar?
Running times may vary depending on the guest, subject and audience Q&A. Please check the individual event listing for details about a specific webinar.
Who should attend?
CoMP webinars are designed for emerging and established creative professionals, students, independent creators and anyone interested in understanding how media projects and careers are developed, produced and sustained.
Each event listing identifies the specific audience that may benefit most from that conversation.
Do I need professional experience to attend?
No. Our goal is to make professional knowledge understandable and useful at different career levels. Some webinars may explore advanced subjects, but attendees do not need formal industry credentials to participate.
